This is the slow version. Eight days lets Xiamen do what it does best — nothing in particular: a week of sea breezes, tea poured in shopfronts, cycle lanes and ferry-hopping, with the tulou country folded in as the one long excursion. It suits travelers who would rather know one city well than tick three; if your schedule is shorter, the first three days plus Gulangyu compress into five without violence.
