About HelloChina
Independent, checkable travel information for China — every claim carries a source and a verification date.
What HelloChina is
HelloChina is an independent, English-first travel information platform for people visiting China for the first time. It connects entry policy, payments, connectivity, transport, accommodation, destinations and everyday culture in one structure, so a traveller can prepare before departure and resolve practical questions on the ground.
The site is not a government body, a travel agency, a payment wallet or a visa service, and it does not sell bookings. Policy pages carry their official source, a verification date and a review status, and entry rules are stated in only three ways: may apply, does not apply, or cannot be determined from public information. Final authority always rests with China’s competent authorities and border inspection.
Photography and illustrations
Photographs on this site come from Wikimedia Commons contributors under Creative Commons licences. The photographer, the licence and a link to the original file are printed beside every image, along with the capture date where it is recorded.
Images credited “HelloChina original · AI-assisted” are illustrations created for this site by HelloChina with AI assistance. The “source” link on those images points to this page. They are not third-party copyrighted material, and no real place or person is depicted inaccurately by them.
If you are the author of a photograph and want the attribution corrected or an image removed, use the report link below — corrections are handled as part of the site’s editorial policy.
How the content is maintained
Every guide states when it was last reviewed; policy pages are re-verified on a seven-day cycle against their official sources; and the sources register lists the authority behind each claim, graded A to E. The editorial standards page documents the writing, grading, verification and correction rules in full.
Editorial independence & AI use
HelloChina is editorially independent and earns no commission from the hotels, apps, trains or tours it mentions. Practical guidance is maintained by the HelloChina Editorial team, with named editorial standards and a public correction process. Illustrations are created with AI assistance and clearly labelled; blog drafts may also use AI assistance but are reviewed and edited by a human before publication. Policy-sensitive claims are sourced and dated. The full rules are on the editorial standards page.
