Libo is where Guizhou goes green-jade: the Xiaoqikong valley strings 68 waterfalls, a walk-through water forest and an improbably blue crater lake along one river, while the Maolan reserve protects one of the world's largest surviving karst forests over the hills. The old guidebook complaint — no railway — expired in 2023: fast trains now reach Libo from Guiyang in about an hour.
